What to Pack for My Kid's Disney World Vacation
Are you headed to the Most Magical Place on Earth? We're so excited for you! (And maybe a little jealous.) If you've planned a trip to Disney World, you're probably making a list of things to pack and don't want to miss out on bringing something important. Don't worry — we've got your back. Our own love of Disney inspired our RAGS Disney Collection; it’s the perfect collection to shop before you hit the road for Orlando.
Here are a few tips to help you prep for the trip of a lifetime:
What Will the Weather Be Like at Disney World?
Disney World has some of the best weather year-round! There's really no wrong time of year to visit. The average high temperature is 83 degrees, with an average low of 62 degrees. July is typically the warmest month at Disney World, with January being the coolest month. Wondering when it is most likely to rain? On average, August tends to be the rainiest month.
If you're concerned about bad weather during your visit, there is no need to worry. There are plenty of ways to enjoy Disney World, even on rainy or cool days! It's all about being prepared, with plenty of layers and rain gear (just in case).
What Can I Bring Into the Disney Parks?
Every mom knows that being prepared for an outing is the name of the game. How do you stay prepared without overpacking? After many trips to Disney parks under our belts, we've got some good suggestions. Here are some of our most important items to pack for your next trip to the park:
-
Water bottles for everyone
When it comes to partying hard at Disney World, staying hydrated is the number one rule! Water bottles for the entire crew are perhaps the most important things you'll pack. You can bring one from home or even buy a Disney-themed bottle from a souvenir shop. The park has plenty of water stations around the park where you can fill up bottles for free.
-
Lightweight stroller
Bringing a stroller is a no-brainer if you've got babies or toddlers. But you might want to bring a stroller or wagon for older kids, too. Sometimes kiddos just need a break from all the walking, or they might want to catch a quick snooze. Plus, it doubles as storage space!
-
Comfortable bag or backpack and bag clip
Bring a bag, backpack, or diaper bag that you can comfortably carry around for the day. You'll want to bring something lightweight with enough storage to haul everything around. Attaching a bag clip to the stroller makes it easy to snap on the bag or backpack to easily access everything. (Or, we recommend a backpack to keep your hands free.) It's a great way to keep your stuff easily accessible.
-
Small cooler
What's an outing with kids without snacks? Make snack time easy by packing a small, lightweight cooler. Fill it full of some of your family's favorite snacks, and you're good to go! Of course, there are many places to eat in the park, but sometimes it's easier to skip the line and just grab something quick from the cooler.
-
Ponchos or rain jackets
Don't let rainy days get you down! Packing ponchos or rain jackets are essential. Disposable plastic ponchos are a great option because they keep you dry, and you can easily dispose of them afterward instead of having to haul around wet jackets when the rain stops. Whatever you bring, make sure to get something that will keep you dry!
-
Sunscreen and aloe vera
Sunny days are always the best at Disney World! Make the best of them by being prepared with sunscreen and reapplying throughout the day. And just in case of a sunburn, bring some aloe vera for some relief.
-
Umbrella
When you bring an umbrella, you'll be able to protect yourself from the rain and the sun. It's a win all around! A small, compact umbrella fits into many small spaces, like your bag.
-
Hand sanitizer
Stay germ-free by packing hand sanitizer or even anti-bacterial wipes. They're great for sanitizing while walking around and don't have access to soap and water.
-
Power pack for recharging electronics
What happens when your phone's battery suddenly runs low and it's only 1 p.m.? Well, you whip out the power pack that you packed, of course! Stashing one in your bag means that you'll be prepared to charge anyone's electronics. After all, no one wants a dead phone during a day at the Disney Parks
-
Glow sticks
At the end of the day when everyone is a little tired, pulling out glow sticks is a great way to keep everyone entertained. Instead of finding and purchasing glow toys in the park, you'll have them ready for instant entertainment.
-
First aid kit
You never know when you'll need a first aid kit. You can bring a prepackaged one or make your own. Here are a few things to consider putting in a first aid kit: bandaids, antibiotic ointments, medications, chapstick, lotion, and moleskin.
-
Quarters, pennies, and credit cards
Start a new tradition by collecting pressed pennies from Disney World. Bring along a few spare quarters and pennies, and you've got a quick activity that the kiddos will love. For buying everything else in the park, bring a wallet with some credit cards you can easily grab.
-
Comfortable shoes and clothes
Did you know that the average guest walks between 7-10 miles a day at Disney World? Because you'll be doing lots of walking, make sure to pack comfortable shoes for both you and your kiddos.
This is perhaps the most important one! Wear and pack clothes that you'll be comfortable in any weather. Taking a peek at the forecast before your trip can help you determine what kind of clothes to pack, from long sleeves and pants in cooler weather to shorts, tees, and Disney rompers in warmer weather.
At RAGS, you know we've got you covered with comfortable clothes. What are some of our favorite Disney clothes for kids? Check out these options below.
